We purchased this item before a 2 month trip to Thailand, Australia, New Zealand and Singapore. Not knowing what our accomodation situation would be like in these countries we anticipated many low-cost hostels and hotels. In the end, this product was fantastic. Both my husband and I slept comfortably in the double sack although we had also purchased a single sack for me alone (my husband in 6'2 and 185 pounds so we thought he might need the double for himself only). We continue to use this when we travel to hotels in the U.S. and the product has held up well even after the 2 months of continuous use. I haven't used a cotton sleep sack, which seems to usually be a cheaper alternative, but the silk did seem to help in regulating body temperature wherever we were.
