I slept in this sleeping bag once at 50F. (That's 50F measured on a thermometer. Not guessed at.) Even wearing long johns and a sweatsuit I was a bit cold. In the middle of the night I got up and put on a pair of insulated overalls. Then I slept warm. I'm an old man and pretty sensitive to the cold. Maybe a younger, fitter person would have been warm enough. But, I'd warn anyone going camping in below freezing weather to test this bag ahead of time. You could avoid an awful night.

On the plus side, there's plenty of room in the bag. And the bag handles moisture very nicely.

Finally, the bag is well constructed and claims to be washable. (I've had bad experiences trying to wash down filled items. Polyester fill seems to wash OK.)

I'm not sure if I'd buy another one.

You will have to take this review with a grain of salt. I purchased this to carry in the back of my SUV. I have not, and probably never will use it as a "sleeping bag". It is replacing a Coleman bag that I had for many years ( probably more than 30 ) - and I never had to use it other than to spread out in the back when my dogs were accompanying me in the SUV. I chose this bag based on the reviews and the fact that the outside is canvas and inside is flannel. The compression straps are a nice feature, and I'm sure most people would appreciate the included storage bag. The only disappointment I found was that "full zipper" means the zipper goes the full length - but not the width at the bottom. On the Coleman the zipper went across the width at the bottom as well - that made washing much easier. I received two sleeping bags as a gift a while back which are very nice, but didn't come with a bag of its own (instead, came with a tie-up system which never works). They are also HUGE, and because of the lousy tie-up system, take up a ton of room.

I purchased a XX-Large compression sack, and it shrinks the bag down to half its size. It's pretty amazing. Construction on this bag is incredibly solid, all seams are in good places so they don't take the bulk of the pressure, and the cords are great quality.

The compression is also lengthwise, which allows for the best compression. Cheap Wal-mart compression bags compress around the circumference, which is just awful.

12/23/09 This sleeping bag was very expensive, but I definitely got what I paid for. It is very large, sort of like a heavy quilt. It has fabulous insulation, definitely used this for EXTREME COLD WEATHER. The price has gone down since a month ago, this is the best sleeping bag ever, it reflects your body heat back to you, keeping you hot and toasty.

What amazed me about the delivery was that it came in a big box, inside the big box was protective tissue wrap, under that was a very durable duffel carrying case, inside that was a white box, inside that was a plastic bag containing the actual sleeping bag. SWISS GEAR DON'T PLAY AROUND! They are extremely reliable when it comes to advanced equipment.
So the storage sack is actually a big duffel suitcase looking thing. The material is rugged and tough.

Coleman Harbor Sleeping Bag Top Quality

For those who are looking for a COMFORTABLE sleeping bag at a reasonable price, this is the one. I actually ordered two Coleman Colossal sleeping bags for my husband and I, and these Harbor bags for the kids. Well, it ended up they were the same price, and with the same temperature rating, I didn't see any difference between them other than 20 dollars and the color of the fabric! So if you are considering the Colossal ones because you think they have more room, they don't!!

As far as the qualities of this sleeping bag, they are REALLY, REALLY cozy. Because they are not synthetic, they are heavier, but to me it is so worth it, I've slept in warm synthetic ones and been miserable because they are so uncomfortable, whereas this one I was stealing to use as a blanket on our couch, it was so cozy!! They are very roomy, and are made with excellent quality materials. The zippers are REALLY nice compared to other sleeping bags I've had, they look very sturdy with their additional rubber seal and work easily.

One additional thing that I liked about these is that the protective bag is attached to the sleeping bag. No more trying to pack the sleeping bag into a too-small protective slip. I sloppily rolled them back up after using them around the house and though the bag did not cover the entire sleeping bag with my messy work, it did cover the parts that were necessary to protect the bag, and it was MUCH easier than the one's I've used in the past.

I really can't think of any negatives for this bag. Only thing I can remotely think of is the weight, which isn't important to me since we are camping somewhat near our car anyhow.

For the price, temperature rating and quality, I don't think you can find a better buy!!

I am typing this review while wearing my new Selk bag. I live my life being cold, and yet I am currently a pleasant temperature.

Although you could not pay me enough to go camping, this sleeping bag was something that I planned to invent, until I discovered that someone had already done so. If you are a person who is perpetually cold, even when the furnace is cranked to 24ºC (and your husband is insisting that you turn it down), then this is the best item for you.

I previously also owned a high-quality mummy bag, and although warm and adequately suitable for use while watching television, it was not easy to move around in. When getting up to get another cup of hot cocoa, I would get cold all over again. The Selk bag provides complete mobility. If you are on the couch with a book or a laptop, the mummy bag forces your arms outside of the covering, while the Selk allows you to stay completely covered, and even to zip around your wrists so that minimal skin is exposed to the air.

The quality seems high -- zippers are YKK zippers and the feet are reenforced so that you can wander around without catching a draft. I just wouldn't suggest trying to run up and down the stairs while wearing it. Perhaps this is because I regularly wear a size 6 dress and my Selk is size large...

After trying at least three brands of these silk sleeping bag liners (or sleep sacks, as they are sometimes called), I have concluded that the Sea to Summit sacks give you the most bang for the buck.

Their ripstop reinforcement seems to be the key reason these STS bags last two years of everynight use or longer, compared to a year or less for other silk sleep sacks.

Yes, I rely on these for nightly use with a futon. I climb into one of these luxurious-feeling silk cocoons, throw on a blanket or comforter, and I'm set for a comfortable night's sleep. No further bedmaking required!

I recently purchased the Coleman Dry Gear Bag (size Small - 24" x 10") from Amazon for a 4-wheeling trip to West Virginia. As it turned out, I didn't really need to use it, but in case it rained I wanted to have it with me.

As usual, the shipping from Amazon was speedy, and I received the bag in under a week. Unfortunately, I wish I had taken more time to look at my local Bass Pro shop first. This bag is around a 20oz bag, which I found to be almost too small for what I needed/wanted it for. It's also a very stiff bag. The little loops that are attached are nice, as is the translucent see-thru nature of the plastic. But in terms of overall construction quality, it's not as nice as a 30oz bag I could have gotten locally for around $12.

Honestly, I'm not 100% certain that this bag would be the best if there were a chance of it getting submerged or sitting in standing water. After putting items in mine and rolling it, I could still push air out. That tells me the seal wasn't very solid/complete. Conversely, I have a small "SealLine Baja Dry Bags (Spring 2010)" bag that I can NOT do that on. And the bag I tried out at Bass Pro could have doubled as a pillow with the way it held air.

In the end, it's caveat emptor. You get what you are paying for with this bag. If you are looking for something cheap and simple just to keep the rain or mud off of your stuff, then this might be a good choice for a relatively low price. The blue and green polyester areas of the sleeping bag are a bit slick & slippery, but the tan microfleece liner is soft and comfortable to sleep on.

I haven't tested this in the field yet, but it appears to be a well made, compact & fairly lightweight summer sleeping bag. The specs on Amazon aren't very clear so here is some accurate measurements:

Sleeping Bag = 1261 grams = 2 lbs 12.5 oz
Incl Mesh Bag = 33 grams = 1.2 oz

There are 2 bungies sewn into the outer foot area; When rolled up tightly and fastened with those bungies, it is 6" x 17". (If you compress it in a strong stuff sack, you can probably make it smaller.) The sleeping bag only fills about 80% of the included mesh bag, so I plan to roll up my silk sleeping sheet inside also.

Coleman Exponent Tasman X 0-Degree Hybrid Sleeping Bag This instant

This sleeping bag exceeded my expectations by far. Not only is it a very comfortable sleeping bag to sleep in, but it's warming ability is AWESOME!

In truth, I wish it were just a bit roomier (I'm a tall, hefty guy), but then maybe it wouldn't be so warm either. The zipper works well, and completely seals out the cold because of a rather generous puffy zipper seal all along it's length.

The only draw back that I've found is that the side zipper only goes down approximately 4/5th of the way -- not completely. This means, of course, that the foot pocket is completely sealed all the way around (no zipper seams), but it does make one exercise a bit extra care getting into and out of the bag.

I would gladly recommend this sleeping bag to anyone who wants to stay really warm and cozy on those cold nights. I WOULD NOT recommend it's use for summer camping trips -- it will be too warm.

2. Self inflation. The pillow is stuffed with highly compressible foam that inflates the pillow very quickly. Sometimes when my recline is limited, I do not inflate the pillow - there's enough foam in there to provide some support.
3. A nifty valve. This is the same valve on my Thermarest Neoair. It's rock solid. It keeps air in while inflated and keeps air out when the pillow is deflated for transport.

I made absolutely sure that there was nothing stuck in the stem and it still leaked. I tried a few times before giving up and returning the pillow for a refund.
